Access protection for static sites
planned
Anurag Goel
It would be really nice to have built-in password protection for static sites, so I don't have to use something like Auth0.

I generate static sites with Hugo, and when I need basic protection, it's very simple to add a couple of .htaccess and .htpasswd files to solve the problem. It would be great to have something like this here on Render.

Really need this to make Render a useful service for live-testing while in development. Please prioritize - it has been years!

+100 for this.
Even something basic like Basic Auth or .htpasswd, configured through ENV vars or something similar would be fine.
I have some static site content I would like to not be crawled by robots or the general public.
