Allow custom packages to be installed

Sometimes you might require packages that are not installed on the system. The only solution right now is to use Docker, which kind of defeats the ease-of-use reason many choose Render for.

Any updates on this? It's unfortunate that needing a single OS package installed, requires us to go through all the Docker setup... contrary to the reason why we use Render to simplify this whole process.

Anurag Goel any chance we see this added soon?

+1, same issue, have to jump through all these painful debugging hoops just to do what I can do locally with one command (install playwright).

This would be great

This would be such a great feature. I currently need to use Docker, but that doesn't have a
buildCommand
. I'd use the latter to run my migrations. With Docker, I need to run them as part of dockerCommand
, but that triggers them on all service instances. So I also need a hacky script to manage that scenario.r

Aye, just tried to install Playwright, which requires OS level packages and couldn't install. Now I have to mess with docker... That ain't fun.
