The current default of 1 hour is problematic, for example to see incoming requests on my web service I have to constantly refresh. And it was not fun to have happen during a demo 🙃
Chatted with Mike and he mentioned the default used to be live tail, but it caused problems with only showing a certain window of time so it was changed to 1 hour.
Here are my suggestions:
  1. The standard for most terminal apps is to display the last 1000 lines, irrelevant to window of time. iTerm for example defaults to this. Ideally this becomes an option in the "Custom" configuration too.
  2. My selection doesn't save on refresh so I constantly have to reselect live tail. Please make selections save per user per service. This way different members of a team can choose their own, and when logging in and out it is still persisted (not just across page refresh, but across sessions too).
  3. Add an ability for users to select their own global default setting. This would be overridden by a saved selection of course.
