Access protection for static sites
planned
Anurag Goel
It would be really nice to have built-in password protection for static sites, so I don't have to use something like Auth0.

+100 for this.
Even something basic like Basic Auth or .htpasswd, configured through ENV vars or something similar would be fine.
I have some static site content I would like to not be crawled by robots or the general public.

I am working on a new web site which needs to have some (light) access restriction during its development phase. I was about to use my Render account to do this, but I stopped short when realizing I could not use the basic HTTP authorization protocol. I feel sad about it, as I like the service a lot and I am using it more and more often. Thanks for your consideration

Is there any ETA for this?

This site is very useful and informative, but feature requests that are in the PLANNED state for more than a year without an update are somehow counterproductive. Could somebody shed a bit of light at least on this one? Thanks. :-)

Štefan Ľupták: it's definitely planned to be worked on, but other features have taken priority (like the move to Fastly for all static sites). We want this feature as much as you do! We'll post an update as soon as we have any progress on it.

Anurag Goel: Fair enough. I understand. Thanks a lot for your reply. I really appreciate that. :)
