It would also be cool to support a folder structure like GitHub and Digital Ocean have with hidden folders like ".render/config.yaml". I really dislike polluting all of my repos with a ton of top-level files.

Maybe you just search for "render.yaml", "render.yml", ".render/config.yaml", ".render/config.yml" in that order and find the first match?
